[ Exodus 23:20 - 23:26 ] - hymn 31 I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way. [ EXODUS 23:20 ] ​ As medical test after medical test filled up Bev’s schedule, she grew overwhelmed and weary. Doctors alarmed her when they told her they were looking for cancer somewhere in her body. Each day God faithfully encouraged her with the prom- ises of His presence and an abiding peace when she turned to Him or read the Bible. She battled with the uncertainties and frequently learned to roll the “what ifs” onto God’s shoulders. One morning, Bev came across a verse in Exodus 23 that popped out from the page to her heart before a serious surgery: “I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way” (V. 20). ​ Those words were spoken by God through Moses to His people, the Israelites. He was giving His laws for His people to follow and leading them to a new land (VV. 14-26). But in the middle of those instructions, He told them He would send an angel ahead of them “to guard [them] along the way” (V. 20). Even though this wasn’t Bev’s life’s situation, she remembered that the care of angels is mentioned elsewhere in Scripture too. Psalm 91:11 says, “He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” And Hebrews 1:14 tells us God sends angels as “ministering spirits” to serve believers in Jesus. ​ If we know Christ, He’s got an angel or angels near us to minister to us as well. ANNE CETAS		[ 출애굽기 23:20 - 23:26 ] - 찬송가 31 장 내가 사자를 네 앞서 보내어 길에서 너를 보호하여 [출애굽기 23:20] ​ 베브는 계속되는 진단 일정으로 힘들고 지쳐갔습니다. 자신의 몸 어딘가에 있는 암을 찾는 중이라는 의사들의 말이 그녀를 놀라게 했습니다. 하나님은 베브가 주님을 찾거나 성경을 읽을 때 함께 하신다는 약속과 지속적인 평화로 하루하루 그녀를 신실하게 격려해 주셨습니다. 베브는 어떻게 될지 몰라 고민이 되어 “만약에”라는 질문으로 자주 하나님께 매달렸습니다. 큰 수술을 앞둔 어느 날 아침, “내가 사자를 네 앞서 보내어 길에서 너를 보호하리라”(20절)고 하는 출애굽기 23장의 한 구절이 성경에서 그녀의 마음속으로 파고들었습니다. ​ 이 말씀은 하나님께서 모세를 통해 이스라엘 백성에게 주신 것입니다. 하나님은 이스라엘 백성들이 따를 율법을 주시고 그들을 새 땅으로 인도하셨습니다(14-26절). 그러나 그 지침들을 주시던 중간에 하나님은 “길에서 [그들을] 보호하기” 위해 천사를 앞서 보내시겠다고 말씀하셨습니다 (20절). 생사가 달린 베브의 상황과는 달랐지만, 그녀는 성경의 다른 곳에서도 천사의 보호가 언급되었던 것이 생각났습니다. 시편 91편 11 절에서는 “그가 너를 위하여 그의 천사들을 명령하사 네 모든 길에서 너를 지키게 하심이라” 고 말씀하시고, 히브리서 1장 14절에서는 하나님께서 예수님을 믿는 성도들을 섬기기 위해 천사들을 “섬기는 영”으로 보내신다고 말씀하십니다. ​ 그리스도를 아는 사람들에게는 주님께서 천사를 보내어 가까이서 돕게 하십니다.
What might God be doing for you through His angels? How does this encourage you? ​ I’m grateful, dear God, that You’re always near, and You also have Your angels watching over Your children. ​ 20. "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. 21. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. 22. If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. 23. My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out. 24. Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces. 25. Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, 26. and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.		하나님은 그의 천사들을 통해 당신을 위한 무슨 일을 하고 계실까요? 이 사실이 당신에게 어떻게 격려가 됩니까? ​ 사랑하는 하나님, 항상 가까이 계시고 천사들로 주님의 자녀들을 돌보게 하시니 감사합니다. ​ 20. ○내가 사자를 네 앞서 보내어 길에서 너를 보호하여 너를 내가 예비한 곳에 이르게 하리니 21. 너희는 삼가 그의 목소리를 청종하고 그를 노엽게 하지 말라 그가 너희의 허물을 용서하지 아니할 것은 내 이름이 그에게 있음이니라 22. 네가 그의 목소리를 잘 청종하고 내 모든 말대로 행하면 내가 네 원수에게 원수가 되고 네 대적에게 대적이 될지라 23. 내 사자가 네 앞서 가서 너를 아모리 사람과 헷 사람과 브리스 사람과 가나안 사람과 히위 사람과 여부스 사람에게로 인도하고 나는 그들을 끊으리니 24. 너는 그들의 신을 경배하지 말며 섬기지 말며 그들의 행위를 본받지 말고 그것들을 다 깨뜨리며 그들의 주상을 부수고 25. 네 하나님 여호와를 섬기라 그리하면 여호와가 너희의 양식과 물에 복을 내리고 너희 중에서 병을 제하리니 26. 네 나라에 낙태하는 자가 없고 임신하지 못하는 자가 없을 것이라 내가 너의 날 수를 채우리라
