Through a New Lens 새 렌즈를 통하여 [ Exodus 25:31 - 25:40 ] - hymn 78 God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made. Romans 1:20 “It must be amazing to look at a tree and see the individual leaves instead of just a blur of green!” my dad said. I couldn’t have said it better. I was eighteen at the time and not a fan of my new need to wear glasses, but they changed the way I saw everything, making the blurry beautiful! When reading Scripture, I view certain books like I do when I look at trees without my glasses. There doesn’t seem to be much to see. But noticing details can reveal the beauty in what might seem to be a boring passage. This happened to me when I was reading Exodus. God’s directions for building the tabernacle—His temporary dwelling place among the Israelites¬—can seem like a blur of boring details. But I paused at the end of chapter 25 where God gave directions for the lampstand. It was to be hammered out “of pure gold,” including its base and shaft and its flowerlike cups, buds, and blossoms (v. 31). The cups were to be “shaped like almond flowers” (v. 34). Almond trees are breathtaking. And God incorporated that same natural beauty into His tabernacle! Paul wrote, “God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature” are seen and understood in creation (Romans 1:20). To see God’s beauty, sometimes we have to look at creation, and what might seem like uninteresting passages in the Bible, through a new lens. —JULIE SCHWAB [ 출애굽기 25:31 - 25:40 ] - 찬송가 78 장 그(하나님)의 보이지 아니하는 것들 곧 그의 영원하신 능력과 신성이 그 만드신 만물에 분명히 보여 알려졌나니 로마서 1:20 아버지는 “나무를 볼 때 단지 뭉뚱그려진 녹색이 아니라 이파리 하나하나를 보게 되면 정말 놀라울 거야!”라고 말했습니다. 딱 맞는 말이었습니다. 당시 열여덟 살이었던 나는 새로 안경을 써야 한다는 사실이 별로 달갑지 않았지만 안경을 쓰면서 내가 보는 모든 것이 달리 보였습니다. 흐릿하게 보이던 것들이 아름답게 보인 것입니다! 성경을 읽을 때 어떤 부분들은 안경 없이 나무를 보는 것처럼 흐릿해 보입니다. 그래서 볼 것이 그리 많지 않아 보입니다. 그러나 자세한 것을 알게 되면 지루해 보였던 구절이 아름답게 드러나 보이기도 합니다. 내가 출애굽기를 읽을 때 그랬습니다. 이스라엘 백성 가운데 하나님이 거하실 임시처소인 성막을 짓기 위해 하나님이 내리신 지시들은 지루할 만큼 자세하여 흐릿하게 보일 수 있습니다. 그런데 하나님께서 등잔대 만드는 방법을 알려주시는 25장 끝 부분에서 나는 잠시 멈추었습니다. 등잔대의 밑받침과 줄기, 등잔, 꽃받침, 그리고 꽃은 “순금으로” 만들어야 했고(31절), 등잔은 “살구꽃 형상”이어야 했습니다(34절). 살구나무는 매우 아름답습니다. 그래서 하나님은 그 자연의 아름다움을 성막에 포함시키신 것입니다! 바울은 “하나님의 보이지 아니하는 것들 곧 그의 영원하신 능력과 신성이” 창조물을 통해 보이고 알려지게 된다고 기록했습니다 (로마서 1:20). 하나님의 아름다움을 보려면 때로는 새 렌즈를 끼고 하나님의 창조물과 성경의 재미없어 보이는 구절들을 보아야 합니다.

How can you look at Scripture in a new way to see God’s beauty in it? How has God’s beautiful creation drawn you closer to Him? Lord, thank You for creating us in Your image and making us valuable. Help me to remember the value I have because I’m made like You. 31. And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same. 32. And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side: 33. Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick. 34. And in the candlesticks shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers. 35. And there shall be a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick. 36. Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it shall be one beaten work of pure gold. 37. And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it. 38. And the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, shall be of pure gold. 39. Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels. 40. And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was showed thee in the mount. 하나님의 아름다움을 새롭게 보려면 어떻게 성경을 보아야 할까요? 하나님의 아름다운 창조물이 어떻게 당신을 하나님께 더 가까이 이끌어주었나요? 주님, 우리를 당신의 형상으로 창조 하시고 우리를 소중하게 만드신 것에 대해 감사드립니다. 하나님 형상으로 만드신 나의 가치를 기억하게 도와 주옵소서. 31. ○너는 순금으로 등잔대를 쳐 만들되 그 밑판과 줄기와 잔과 꽃받침과 꽃을 한 덩이로 연결하고 32. 가지 여섯을 등잔대 곁에서 나오게 하되 다른 세 가지는 이쪽으로 나오고 다른 세 가지는 저쪽으로 나오게 하며 33. 이쪽 가지에 살구꽃 형상의 잔 셋과 꽃받침과 꽃이 있게 하고 저쪽 가지에도 살구꽃 형상의 잔 셋과 꽃받침과 꽃이 있게 하여 등잔대에서 나온 가지 여섯을 같게 할지며 34. 등잔대 줄기에는 살구꽃 형상의 잔 넷과 꽃받침과 꽃이 있게 하고 35. 등잔대에서 나온 가지 여섯을 위하여 꽃받침이 있게 하되 두 가지 아래에 한 꽃받침이 있어 줄기와 연결하며 또 두 가지 아래에 한 꽃받침이 있어 줄기와 연결하며 또 두 가지 아래에 한 꽃받침이 있어 줄기와 연결하게 하고 36. 그 꽃받침과 가지를 줄기와 연결하여 전부를 순금으로 쳐 만들고 37. 등잔 일곱을 만들어 그 위에 두어 앞을 비추게 하며 38. 그 불 집게와 불 똥 그릇도 순금으로 만들지니 39. 등잔대와 이 모든 기구를 순금 한 달란트로 만들되 40. 너는 삼가 이 산에서 네게 보인 양식대로 할지니라
