[ Daniel 6:1 - 6:10 ] - hymn 289 They could find no corruption in [Daniel], because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. [ DANIEL 6:4 ] ​ Scientists from a California university ran experimental molecular swab tests to identify the traits and lifestyle habits of individual cell phone users. They discovered, among other things, the soaps, lotions, shampoos, and make-up that cell phone users used; the type of foods, drinks, and medications they consumed; and the type of clothing they wore. The study allowed the researchers to create a profile of each person’s lifestyle. ​ The administrators in Babylon, figuratively “swabbed” the prophet Daniel’s life to try and find any negative traits or lifestyle habits. But he’d served the empire faithfully for nearly seventy years—known to be “trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent” (DANIEL 6:4). In fact, the prophet was promoted by King Darius as one of “three administrators over” his many governors (VV. 1-2). Perhaps out of jealousy, the other officials were looking for traces of corruption in Daniel so they might be able to get rid of him. He kept his integrity intact, however, and continued to serve and pray to God “as he had done before” (V. 10). In the end, the prophet prospered in his role (V. 28). ​ Our lives leave visible traces that point to who we are and whom we represent. Although we struggle and aren’t perfect, when people around us “swab” our lives, may they find visible traces of integrity and devotion to Jesus as He guides us. MARVIN WILLIAMS		[ 다니엘 6:1 - 6:10 ] - 찬송가 289 장 그들이 [다니엘에게서] 아무 근거, 아무 허물도 찾지 못하였으니 이는 그가 충성되어 아무 그릇됨도 없고 아무 허물도 없음이었더라 [다니엘 6:4] ​ 캘리포니아의 한 대학에서 과학자들이 휴대폰 사용자들을 대상으로 분자 채취 검사를 하여 각 개인의 특징과 생활 습관을 알아내는 실험을 했습니다. 이들이 찾아낸 것 중에는 대상자들이 어떤 비누, 로션, 샴푸, 화장품들을 사용하는지, 어떤 식음료를 먹고 마시며 어떤 약을 복용하는지, 그리고 무슨 옷을 주로 입는지도 알아냈습니다. 이 연구로 학자들은 각 사람의 생활방식을 대략 설명할 수 있었습니다. ​ 바벨론의 관리들도 다니엘 선지자의 삶에서 어떤 나쁜 습성이나 생활 습관을 찾아내려고 일종의 ‘채취 검사’ 같은 것을 했습니다. 그러나 다니엘은 왕을 거의 70년 동안 성실히 섬겨오며 “충성되어 아무 그릇됨도 없고 아무 허물도 없는” 사람으로 알려져 있었습니다(다니엘 6:4). 그리고 다리오 왕은 다니엘을 많은 고관들 위에 “세 명의 총리” 중 하나로 세웠습니다(1-2절). 그래서 이를 질투한 다른 고관들이 다니엘에게서 부패의 증거를 찾아내어 그를 제거하려 했을 것입니다. 그럼에도 그는 온전함을 지켜 “전에 하던 대로” 하나님을 섬기고 기도하기를 계속했습니다(10절). 다니엘 선지자는 마침내 그의 총리 역할로 크게 이름을 떨치게 되었습니다(28절). ​ 우리의 삶에서도 남겨진 흔적을 보면 우리가 누구이며 누구를 닮았는지 알 수 있습니다. 비록 우리가 힘든 삶을 살고 완벽하지 않더라도, 주위 사람들이 우리의 삶을 가지고 ‘채취 검사’를 해 볼 때 우리를 인도하시는 예수님을 따라 온전하게 헌신해온 흔적이 분명히 드러날 수 있기를 소원합니다.
How does your life reflect God’s ways to others? What do you need to change to represent Him better? ​ Heavenly Father, please help me represent You well in what I say and do. ​ 1. It pleased Darius to appoint 120 satraps to rule throughout the kingdom, 2. with three administrators over them, one of whom was Daniel. The satraps were made accountable to them so that the king might not suffer loss. 3. Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. 4. At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. 5. Finally these men said, "We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God." 6. So the administrators and the satraps went as a group to the king and said: "O King Darius, live forever! 7. The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or man during the next thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be thrown into the lions' den. 8. Now, O king, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered -- in accordance with the laws of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed." 9. So King Darius put the decree in writing. 10. Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.		사람들은 당신의 삶에서 어떤 하나님의 방식들을 보고 있습니까? 하나님을 더욱 닮아가려면 무엇을 바꾸어야 할까요? ​ 하나님 아버지, 저의 언어와 행실 가운데 하나님이 잘 드러나도록 도와주소서. ​ 1. 다리오가 자기의 뜻대로 고관 백이십 명을 세워 전국을 통치하게 하고 2. 또 그들 위에 총리 셋을 두었으니 다니엘이 그 중의 하나이라 이는 고관들로 총리에게 자기의 직무를 보고하게 하여 왕에게 손해가 없게 하려 함이었더라 3. 다니엘은 마음이 민첩하여 총리들과 고관들 위에 뛰어나므로 왕이 그를 세워 전국을 다스리게 하고자 한지라 4. 이에 총리들과 고관들이 국사에 대하여 다니엘을 고발할 근거를 찾고자 하였으나 아무 근거, 아무 허물도 찾지 못하였으니 이는 그가 충성되어 아무 그릇됨도 없고 아무 허물도 없음이었더라 5. 그들이 이르되 이 다니엘은 그 하나님의 율법에서 근거를 찾지 못하면 그를 고발할 수 없으리라 하고 6. 이에 총리들과 고관들이 모여 왕에게 나아가서 그에게 말하되 다리오 왕이여 만수무강 하옵소서 7. 나라의 모든 총리와 지사와 총독과 법관과 관원이 의논하고 왕에게 한 법률을 세우며 한 금령을 정하실 것을 구하나이다 왕이여 그것은 곧 이제부터 삼십일 동안에 누구든지 왕 외의 어떤 신에게나 사람에게 무엇을 구하면 사자 굴에 던져 넣기로 한 것이니이다 8. 그런즉 왕이여 원하건대 금령을 세우시고 그 조서에 왕의 도장을 찍어 메대와 바사의 고치지 아니하는 규례를 따라 그것을 다시 고치지 못하게 하옵소서 하매 9. 이에 다리오 왕이 조서에 왕의 도장을 찍어 금령을 내니라 10. ○다니엘이 이 조서에 왕의 도장이 찍힌 것을 알고도 자기 집에 돌아가서는 윗방에 올라가 예루살렘으로 향한 창문을 열고 전에 하던 대로 하루 세 번씩 무릎을 꿇고 기도하며 그의 하나님께 감사하였더라
