[ Acts 11:19 - 11:30 ] - hymn 497 A great number of people were brought to the Lord. [ ACTS 11:24 ] ​ On February 5, 2023, Christian Atsu kicked the winning goal for his football (soccer) team in a match in Turkey. A star international player, he learned to play the sport as a kid running barefoot in his home country of Ghana. Christian was a believer in Christ: “Jesus is the best thing that ever happened in my life,” he said. Atsu posted Bible verses on social media, was outspoken about his faith, and put it into action by helping finance a school for orphans. ​ The day after his winning goal, a devastating earthquake shook the city of Antakya, once the biblical city of Antioch. Christian Atsu’s apartment building collapsed, and he went to be with his Savior. ​ Two thousand years ago, Antioch was the fountainhead of the early church: “the disciples were called Christians first at Antioch” (ACTS 11:26). One apostle, Barnabas, said to be “a good man, full of the Holy Spirit” (V. 24), was instrumental in bringing people to Christ: “a great number of people were brought to the Lord” (V. 24). ​ We look to the life of Christian Atsu not to idolize him but to see in his example an opportunity. Whatever our circumstance in life, we don’t know when God will take us to be with Him. We do well to ask ourselves how we can be a Barnabas or a Christian Atsu in showing others the love of Christ. That, above all, is the winning goal. KENNETH PETERSEN		[ 사도행전 11:19 - 11:30 ] - 찬송가 497 장 이에 큰 무리가 주께 더하여 지더라 [사도행전 11:24] ​ 2023년 2월 5일, 크리스티안 아추는 튀르키예에서 열린 축구 경기에서 결승골을 넣었습니다. 국가대표 스타 선수인 그는 어렸을 때 고국인 가나에서 맨발로 뛰며 축구를 배웠습니다. 그리스도를 믿는 신자인 크리스티안은 “예수님을 만난 것은 내 인생 최고의 일”이라고 고백했습니다. 아추는 소셜 미디어에 성경 구절을 올리면서 자신의 믿음을 솔직하게 드러냈고, 고아들을 위한 학교의 재정을 도와주면서 자신의 믿음을 실천했습니다. ​ 그가 결승골을 넣은 다음 날, 아주 큰 규모의 지진이 한 때 성경에서 안디옥이라고 불렸던 도시, 안타키아를 흔들었습니다. 그 지진으로 크리스티안 아추가 거주하던 아파트 건물이 붕괴되면서 아추는 주님이 계신 곳으로 갔습니다. ​ 이천 년 전, 안디옥은 초대교회의 근원지였습니다. “제자들이 안디옥에서 비로소 그리스도인이라 일컬음을 받게 되었습니다”(사도행전 11:26). “착한 사람이요 성령과 믿음이 충만한 사람”(24절)이라고 알려진 바나바는 그 교회에서 사람들을 그리스도에게 인도하는 중요한 일을 했으며, “이에 큰 무리가 주께 더하여 졌습니다”(24절). ​ 크리스티안 아추의 삶을 이렇게 살펴보는 것은 그를 우상화하려는 것이 아니라 그의 사례에서 어떤 기회를 찾아보기 위함입니다. 살면서 우리가 어떤 상황에 처해 있든, 하나님이 언제 우리를 그분 곁으로 부르실지는 아무도 모릅니다. 그래서 우리는 어떻게 바나바와 크리스티안 아추 같이 그리스도의 사랑을 다른 사람들에게 보여줄 수 있을지 우리 스스로에게 물어보는 것이 좋습니다. 다른 무엇보다 바로 그것이 결승골이기 때문입니다.
What does it mean to be a Barnabas to others? What possibilities do you have to talk about Jesus? ​ Dear God, I pray that You’ll give me opportunities to share my faith. ​ 19. Now those who had been scattered by the persecution in connection with Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, telling the message only to Jews. 20. Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. 21. The Lord's hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord. 22. News of this reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. 23. When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts. 24. He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord. 25. Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26. and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. 27. During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28. One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.) 29. The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea. 30. This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.		다른 사람들에게 바나바가 된다는 것은 무엇을 의미합니까? 당신에게 예수님에 대해 말할 어떤 가능한 경우들이 있습니까? ​ 사랑하는 하나님, 저의 믿음을 나눌 기회를 주시기를 기도합니다. ​ 19. ○그 때에 스데반의 일로 일어난 환난으로 말미암아 흩어진 자들이 베니게와 구브로와 안디옥까지 이르러 유대인에게만 말씀을 전하는데 20. 그 중에 구브로와 구레네 몇 사람이 안디옥에 이르러 헬라인에게도 말하여 주 예수를 전파하니 21. 주의 손이 그들과 함께 하시매 수많은 사람들이 믿고 주께 돌아오더라 22. 예루살렘 교회가 이 사람들의 소문을 듣고 바나바를 안디옥까지 보내니 23. 그가 이르러 하나님의 은혜를 보고 기뻐하여 모든 사람에게 굳건한 마음으로 주와 함께 머물러 있으라 권하니 24. 바나바는 착한 사람이요 성령과 믿음이 충만한 사람이라 이에 큰 무리가 주께 더하여지더라 25. 바나바가 사울을 찾으러 다소에 가서 26. 만나매 안디옥에 데리고 와서 둘이 교회에 일 년간 모여 있어 큰 무리를 가르쳤고 제자들이 안디옥에서 비로소 그리스도인이라 일컬음을 받게 되었더라 27. ○그 때에 선지자들이 예루살렘에서 안디옥에 이르니 28. 그 중에 아가보라 하는 한 사람이 일어나 성령으로 말하되 천하에 큰 흉년이 들리라 하더니 글라우디오 때에 그렇게 되니라 29. 제자들이 각각 그 힘대로 유대에 사는 형제들에게 부조를 보내기로 작정하고 30. 이를 실행하여 바나바와 사울의 손으로 장로들에게 보내니라
